CURRENT PROJECTS

FYF-IDD: Our group at JFK Partners are testing the efficacy of the Facing Your Fears, when adapted for individuals with intellectual disability, including those with emerging verbal language. I support the project through administering cognitive assessments and the ADOS-2 during qualifying visits, and will co-lead one group. I also am investigating differences in parent and teen report of anxiety symptoms, as well as exploring predictors of family anxiety accomodation behaviors within this population.

PRO-Parenting: Our team at UO and LLU are testing how the efficacy of the Incredible Years intervention changes when caregivers recieve 6 weeks of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

In my dissertation, I utilized this dataset to examine 1) the factor structure of parent emotion dysregulation in the context of parenting, 2) how Parent Emotion Regulation and Child Emotion Regulation contribute to the well-established relationship between parenting stress and challenging behaviors in preschoolers with ASD and DD. In future work, we hope to apply these findings and novel measure of observed parent emotion regulation to examine the extent to which IY-DD and MBSR result in changes in parent emotion regulation, and account for changes in challenging behaviors and parenting stress.

I am currently working on publishing dissertation findings, which have been presented at INSAR 2023.

I also coded parent-child interaction videos for strategies that are in alignment with intervention targets.
